Important design decisions the goes into the making of a well thought out Kids Room

A kids bedroom, a domain of kids to play, study, create and relax. It’s a do it all space for the young members of the family. This space demands the biggest creative inputs when it comes to designing.

The room is about 300 sq ft with an attached bath privy. The whole wall has been transformed into a series of cozy nooks in the room. This custom-filled wall includes a bed with a play bunk, a climbing wall, a writable wall, and a backlit bookshelf. The study is placed on the opposite wall in continuation with bay window seating.

The play bunk is created above an intentionally done low-height bed to help get extra vertical space. A simple ladder reaches the hangout area with a cozy reading nook above. The bed storage thus sacrificed is compensated with a leg board storage cabinet. An industrial light is hung above the bedside table – the fun element for the kids. The soft lighting plays a gentle complement to the bed area. The cloud-shaped light accentuates the wall decor.

The climbing wall helps to ease off the excess restless energy before settling down for some serious study. The writing wall is done to help the kids “Express” themselves and fulfill their “creative desires”. The bookshelf and display gallery is for the display of creative projects.

The cozy tent at the corner, placed on green turf to recreate nature, the concept is to bring in the outdoors in the room. Some plants are also placed on the study for the feel of nature in the room.

“Study” And “ Home Work”, the two important activities of a kid’s life, have been taken care of by designing the tabletop in a different shape to separate long spaces and create a logical interactive zone. Overhead storage and the bookshelf at the extreme end are arranged like a casual lego block. The flow of energy is maintained by huge natural light from the large window. The study desk is interlinked with cushioned window seating to fashion an unbroken line. Thus the room has been designed with a positive mind for a positive effect.
